Wendy Walker Performance 7:00 – 9:00
Wendy Walker is Metis and M’ikmaq First Nations originally from Winnipeg Manitoba, she has made Mohkinstis (Calgary) Treaty 7 (Alberta) her home for many years. Wendy Walker is an established and recognized Indigenous Artist for many years now. Wendy Walker is the lead singer songwriter for Walker & the Tribe. They perform a variety of originals and cover songs relating to Indigenous issues and ways of being. The band members are incredibly accomplished musicians with careers in their own right.
Wendy was one of two Indigenous Artists selected from Canada to perform at the 2018 Olympic Cultural Festival in PeyongChang South Korea. Her short but very successful tour was extremely well received and shown on Korean Television. Then Mayor Nahed Nenshi and Deputy Premier Sarah Hoffman along with the Alberta Delegation attended one of their shows and they loved it. Naheed messaged back to Calgary “She’s killing it!”
Wendy Walker has recorded and released 2 CD 1) She’s a Warrior 2) One light and her third “The Legacy Project” due to be released in 2023. Wendy Walker has toured parts of Canada, United States, Europe and South Korea.
Last year on Orange Shirt day Sept 30 She released “And The Children” she wrote this song for the children who died in Residential School and those who survived
